IN LOVING MEMORY OF RICK KALOUST

Missed by his loving family, Rick slipped away on Monday, January 9, 2012. Rick was 46 years old, born Jan. 14, 1965 in Taunton, MA to Edward and Joyce Kaloust. Rick spent his entire professional career in financial services and established a successful American United Life Agency in Tampa, FL, where he served as General Agent. Under his leadership, his agency achieved seven Top 10 qualifications as well as qualified for AUL’s Business Conference five times, making his agency one of the top in the country. Rick and his soul mate Tammy Bratcher enjoyed many happy years together in Tampa.

Rick was loved by many and will always be remembered by his adoring mother and father, Joyce and Edward Kaloust, and by his four siblings: Donna Hedgepath of Naples, FL; Kim Kaloust of Newton, MA; John and Derek Kaloust of Tampa, FL. He also leaves behind five nieces and nephews.

Rick lived life to the fullest and was always there for those who needed him most. The only thing that was larger than his smile was his heart, which will live on through his family and friends. He had a way of making each one of us feel special, and his charisma lit up our lives. Rick was truly our “Golden Boy.” We will miss him dearly.

We stand before you with broken hearts because our beloved brother, beautiful son, and precious friend has passed. So today we will weep and mourn, but tomorrow we will dance in your memory. This comes from a passage in the Bible, Ecclesiastes 3:l, “A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.”

In lieu of flowers, please do a random act of kindness and pay it forward in Rick’s honor.

A service for family and friends of Richard Edward Kaloust will be held on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 1 PM at Brewer & Sons Funeral Home, South Tampa Chapel, 3328 S. Dale Mabry Hwy., Tampa, Florida, with a Celebration of Life reception immediately following from 2-4 p.m. at Malio’s, located at 400 Ashley Drive North, Tampa. For his family and friends in Massachusetts, there will be a celebration service and releasing of ashes this summer in Gloucester. Online condolences and all updates will be provided at:

DEREK KALOUST:

My Brother Rick was the best big brother. I can tell you hundreds of crazy stories of how he was the wildest, toughest, the most handsome, and fun-loving guy in the world. He lived life hard. He was either all in (or all out). However, I will save those stories for another time.

Today, I will tell you about a different side of Rick. He thrived on helping others in need. Many of these people are now coming forward to celebrate their stories in Rick’s honor. For instance, here is one such story I just read this morning on Rick’s Memory Book, from someone I don’t even know:

“Rick took me off the streets and gave me a chance to be something special with my talents. He gave me chances no one else has before or since. The years I worked in his office were some of my best of my working life. I got to do things I never thought I could – from maintaining an entire network of computers – to calling and landing those big leads. I'm not sure I ever got to show him how I fully appreciated what he did for me and my family. I got to see a larger piece of the world, and without Rick it would never have happened. Make big things happen in Heaven, my friend. I, for sure, will miss you.

Chris”

How many of us have someone to attest to a story like that? Pay it forward as my brother Rick always did. Rest in peace my big brother. You are my hero.
